QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS |

1 -
What is drying? How can it become useful?
|
The drying process eliminates almost all the water contained in the products (fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, herbs etc.) allowing a long conservation.
Once water is eliminated, natural deterioration of substances stops, because water is the catalyst for all the decaying processes. Moulds, parasites, even ripening is stopped.
The product can stay unaltered for a long time maintaining intact properties and organoleptic characteristics, ready to be stocked. |

2 - What is the diffference between TauRo dryers and the other desiccators on sale? |
The dryers normally found on sale use a vertical structure and a vertical air flux .
The flux is so obstructed by the products, and doesn't completely accomplish its drying effect.
TauRo dryers operate with an orizontal air flux, that fully surrounds all the products at the same time and intensity.
The process is much more uniform, with a lower use of energy and heat (so even cheaper!). |

3 - How long can I preserve the products after they are dryied? |
The drying of fruits, vegetables, mushrooms etc. eliminates almost all the water contained in the products. Since water is the primary catalyst for all the decaying processes, once water is eliminated natural deterioration of substances stops. The products can be preserved for more than a year, if properly stocked.

4 - How shoukd I stock dryied products? |
Dryied products can be preserved for a long time, especially if they don't come into contact with humidity, light and bugs; for instance, putting them in glass containers (the same used for jam) and keeping them in a closet to stay out of light.
Another optimal system is to put the dryed products in a paper bag and put the paper bag into a plastic bag.
Paper will protect from light and will absorb humidity, plastic will avoid contact with air and bugs.

5 - Does the drying process damage the properties of fruits and vegetables? |
Sun drying can damage some of the properties of the products; salt or other substances seldom used in drying processes can alter many of the qualities of fruits and vegetables.
Drying with TauRo dryers eliminates only the most part of the water in the products, keeping all properties and substances inside.
The drying process obtained with TauRo dryers does not infect quality of the products, it allows instead a longer conservation of properties and flavours.

6 - What kind of foods can I preserve with drying? |
There are many foods that are perfect for dryed conservation: mushrooms, fruits, vegetables, spices, medicinal herbs and many more…
Dried mushrooms are maybe the most known product, but imagination and experience will allow the owner of a TauRo dryer to discover new possibilities and to create new, attractive and absolutely natural food proposals. |

7 - I don't have a kitchen garden, can I use drying anyway and benefit from it drying the produts that I buy? |
Certainly!!
The drying of fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, is not only a way to save the overproduction of a kitchen garden, it is also a way to create new attractive and spicy recipes and proposals . Dryed mushrooms, desiccated fruit compositions for Christmas, dryied vegetables used to prepare soups and tasty dishes. |
|
8 - How long is the drying process? How can I speed it up with TauRo dryers? |
Drying times depend on many factors, and cannot be precisely calculated.
The main factor is thickness of the products; an average of 3 - 3 ½ hours per millimeter is needed for a good drying. The more thick is the product, the more the process will be long.
Other factors are humidity, air temperature and quantity of water in the products (tomatoes, for instance, need a long time).
Tauro dryers can reduce three or four times the process of open air drying. |
